As well as extensive commitments to his family, angling and entomolgy, Stuart Crofts remains one of the Riverfly Partnership's greatest supporters. In addition to regularly delivering ARMI training workshops and support days, Stuart represents RP at a number of events throughout the year.
During 2017, for example, Stuart has taken his 'Riverfly Roadshow' to Chatsworth House on five seperate occasions, where many hundreds of people of all ages have been able to engage with Stuart and learn about what RP and the Anglers' Riverfly Monitoring Initiative are all about.
Stuart's exhibits include live freshwater invertebrate larvae and adults, from upland and spring sites, which members of the public can interact with; a highlight of his October samples were some wonderful large adult caddis!
These type of events offer important opportunities for RP to: raise awareness about its work (including ARMI), to engage with anglers and existing ARMI particpants, and to engage with all ages of people about freshwater conservation, water quality, entomology and angling issues alike. Stuart is already booked to attend BFFI, the Uttoxeter Fly Fair (formerly Burton Fly Fair) and numerous dates at Chatsworth House for RP in 2018 so please come along and say hello.
