Targets and Triggers News

Over the last couple of years, various experts (including from the Rivers Trust, the Environment Agency, and the FBA) have been working on a project called ‘Targets and Triggers’. The goals were to develop a more standardised method for setting site trigger levels, and to expand RMI so that the RMI score of a survey could not only be compared to a trigger level, but also to a ‘target’ score, i.e. the score that might be expected if the river was in pristine condition.

We’re very pleased to announce that this work is complete, and the team at Cartographer have launched it on the Riverfly database, which allows anyone to see the ‘Modelled Trigger Level’ and ‘Modelled Target Score’ for any site. Please read the information on this page of our website for an explanation of what these ‘Modelled’ scores mean.
