Monitoring in Wales

Monitoring activity is underway in catchments in England, Scotland and Wales. A map of activity will be available shortly.

Monitoring in South Wales is being undertaken in the River Taff, River Sirhowy, River Rhymney and its tributaries by the Rhymney Flylife Monitoring Group.  The group, coordinated by Dai Roberts, identified four pollution incidences in 2007, two of which led to successful EA prosecutions (see press releases), a third incident was linked to a leaking sewage pipe and the forth incident remains under investigation.

The Pembrokeshire Rivers Trust and Celtic Rivers Trust joined the initiative in 2007 and there are plans to expand the intiative across their catchments in 2008.

The Rosset and Gresford Fly Fishing Club started monitoring in 2007 - bringing the initiative to North Wales.
